Liberate Church -formally Shekinah International Christian Assembly- is a small contemporary church located in Dallas, TX. In 2018, they decided to change their name and church branding to better reflect the current culture. As their ministry uses God's word to heal emotional and physical bondage, they pride themselves as being "a safe place," free from ridicule and criticism.
As a part of their specs, a specific color palette was submitted. They needed a logo identity design, various media assets, and church branding guidelines to support their mission and vision. After considering their wants and needs, we designed a combination mark comprised of a highly-scalable isolated "L" symbol and a display sans-serif wordmark. The Liberate "L" church logo portrays the essence of movement. The slight wing-like characteristics relate to their slogan: "The Place of Liberty." The diagonal-slats of the symbol represent a community moving forward, together. Moreover, their church logo and all brand shapes always point forward and up (towards Christ).
Although this project consists of flat design techniques, we've created the church logo, typography sets, and brand shapes to have a slight illusion of 3-dimensionality. This brings subtle hints of motion to their overall church branding.
