Dominion Church, an Assembly of God congregation in Dickinson, Texas, is a group of people that loves God and loves others as they seek to follow Jesus in their daily lives; they strive to make every member feel like family. The church has experienced vast growth over the past several years and wanted to expand their building to accommodate more members as well as create a community space for future generations. After thoughtful deliberation and prayer, they decided to embark on a three-year church capital campaign to gain support for their campus expansion. Knowing the campaign would be a monumental task, they gave Abstract Union a call.
Dominion Church needed a design that resonated with a large donor base including church members, staff, and community members. They tasked Abstract Union with creating materials that were not simply templates but reflections of the church's unique mission and voice. Dominion wanted their materials to have an edgy, modern look that, while using colors from their church brand, was its own distinct design. Our task was clear: create unified, engaging, and eye-catching materials that would align with Dominion's distinct brand, resonate with their donor base, and have all pieces work together seamlessly.
Through collaboration with Dominion and utilizing our group expertise, Abstract Union crafted appealing, thoughtful, and comprehensive campaign materials that captured Dominion's modern aesthetic and unique campaign initiative. Each piece was thoughtfully designed to reflect Dominion's vision and to engage their donor base effectively.
Open the Campaign Door with a Logo
A campaign logo acts as an anchor for the campaign. It is the first thing that potential donors will notice and instantly sets a tone for the information that follows. For Dominion, we created an angular shape giving an illusion of a cube. We then used a bold sans serif font and made the word “room” stretched and expanded to “make more room” and break through the solid shape, showcasing the slogan in multiple ways.
A Booklet and Pledge Card Showing Room for Growth
When presenting a campaign to your church or community, it's crucial to have an effective way to convey your vision. A booklet is a great place to show the sequencing of each project phase as well as lay out a case statement, helping the reader understand your church’s plan in full. To match the bold and contemporary look that Dominion wanted for their materials, wide diagonal lines were added, helping to emphasize the important information on each page. Renderings of each improved space were integrated to give the reader a taste of the cool renovations on the horizon.
Once members of the congregation have had the opportunity to read the booklet, they will be ready to complete their giving plan. A pledge card helps an organization begin to budget the donations and see the progress already being made. It also enables a donor to see the big picture of how every cent of their contribution counts and can snowball over the duration of the campaign.
Outside of the Box Communication with Digital Tools
Dominion knew that they would be talking with many different groups about their initiative to expand their campus. Wanting to reflect their contemporary approach, they asked Abstract Union to create a number of digital templates that could be used in different situations. While the template itself was custom-designed, it allowed campaign organizers to easily add and/or update important information as the campaign progressed. From the screens during church to the offices of possible community donors, a slide deck is an excellent tool for communicating your vision or display updates.
Knowing that social media is a place where digital posts are visible to lots of people, Dominion asked Abstract Union to create a social media pack. The bold color choice and strong lines were carried over in different iterations, keeping them cohesive to the campaign. The ways to use a social media pack are endless. They can be used as a cover photo by your organization or donors, allowing every person who comes across their page to learn about the campaign. The editable posts can be used to add updates, reminders of different events, or special services. Having a variety of options in your social media pack helps to make each post stand out.
Postcards to Reach Beyond the Four Walls
With so much going on in everyone’s lives, many of us need visual reminders. A prayer guide postcard was distributed to the entire congregation. Recipients could then keep the postcard in a prime location, helping them remember to take a pause and pray for the initiative to keep moving forward.
Regular communication is a key component to any campaign. We were tasked to create a postcard mailer that integrated with the rest of the materials. This allowed campaign organizers to re-use the design and mail out updates, event invitations, prayer reminders, or thank you notes to donors. Using this postcard, communication continued throughout the duration of the campaign.
Let the Sunshine In with a Letter
An ask for donation or thank you is always a vital element of a capital campaign. With such important contents, it deserves to have a special look. A letterhead and envelope set not only help the reader connect the note with your campaign, it also conveys the importance of the correspondence you are making. Letterheads can also be used for longer campaign updates or letters to the congregation at different points during the campaign.
